Kilbraur Wind Energy Co-op purchased a stake in the Kilbraur wind farm on the 3rd November 2008 after raising a total of £1,043,900! In July 2011 the members of the co-op were given the opportunity to purchase a further stake in the additional 8 turbines at the Wind Farm Extension, near Golspie, Sutherland.
Location
The wind farm is located in Strath Brora, Sutherland, Scotland, and consists of 27 x 2.5Mw turbines.
Aims
To generate clean, green electricity and help reduce reliance on existing less environmentally-friendly energy resources.
The Kilbraur Wind Energy Co-op is part of a family of co-ops being developed by Energy4All Ltd in partnership with Renantis (formerly Falck Renewables Wind Limited).
